What is the DELF?

DELF stands for Diplôme d'Études en Langue Française — an official diploma awarded by France Éducation international that certifies your French proficiency.

It is valid for life and recognized worldwide by universities, employers, and immigration authorities. Each level (A1 to C2) is a separate diploma, so you take the test that matches your ability.

The Framework

What is CEFR?

CEFR is the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages — the global standard used to describe language ability from beginner to mastery.

It splits learning into six levels. DELF covers the first five (A1–C1). Each level describes what you can actually do with the language in real situations.
